June Ware LaGreen is a native of Detroit, Michigan and received her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Oakland Community College in Royal Oak, Michigan.
She is a raconteur, motivational speaker and stage performer.
In 2011, she wrote her first book and recorded her first CD, Harriet Tubman - A Freedom Trailblazer.
On November 6, 2004, she gave her first motivational speech, “Setting and Achieving Your Goals” to daycare providers at the Bedford County Day Care Association in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
She performs a “Harriet Tubman” monologue at the Cannonsburg Museum in Murfreesboro every year in April at the Pioneer Festival and in October at the Harvest Festival. In addition, she plays a role as “Margaret”, a lady's maid, with a local theater group, “Living History.” The director is Rhea Cole.
On April 3, 2009, she performed the “Harriet Tubman” monologue at Oakland High School where Mr. Bill Spurlock is the principal. April Gunter, the Theatre Director was the coordinator for the event.
On April 23, 2009, she performed the “Harriet Tubman” monologue at Siegel Middle School where Mr. Tom Delbridge is the principal. Lillian Hibbett, the 8th grade instructor was the coordinator for the event.
Reading to children and adults is an ardent passion of June's and she is a reading volunteer with the United Way's “Success By 6” program and also a volunteer reader at the Linebaugh Public Library.
Her hobbies are gardening, clogging, reading and learning to speak the Spanish language.
She now resides in Murfreesboro with her husband of 55 years, Earthel LaGreen.
